I'd like to say I was born with a camera in my hands, but that's not the case. I didn't take photography in high school or college. I've always loved art, enjoyed drawing & painting, but photography didn't cross my mind because not only wasn't it in the budget, I also knew nothing about it. After our daughters were born, I became obsessed with capturing every expression that came across their little faces. Capturing their expressions was fun, but, it left me wanting to learn more about the technical side so I could get my photos to look more like what I saw in my head, not just what my camera would produce on auto. So, I started buying books, reading forums, taking classes, attending seminars...I was hooked! This lead my husband to suggest that I start my own business. It took me a long time to realize that just because I earn money doing what I love, it wouldn't make it less rewarding. I ended up with a career that I actually enjoy! Now I live, eat, and breathe photography. It's rare that a day goes by that I don't pick up my camera, search a forum, read a book, or scout a location.
